How about searching the places in the novel "THE IMMORTALS OF MELUHA" or "THE KRISHNA KEY" or similar other fictions? After reading these two books what touched me more than the stories are the locations in them. The portrayal of the places by the authors compels me to keep them in my bucket list of travels. The fact that these books were not only mere fiction but well researched work results in the places being actually on the maps.
