Probably this is the cheapest food outlet I have ever been to. Three months in Karaikudi and I had only heard of this place from my friends here until today when I finally made it there for lunch. Amma unavagam are a series of canteen started by the Chief Minister to provide quality but cheap food. The number of items to choose may be limited but price, quality & quantity ratio are exceptional. The canteens are open three times a day for breakfast, lunch & dinner and is located almost throughout Tamil Nadu.
